Grapesicles

You can’t beat Grapesicles for a healthy and frugal snack during the hot summer months! Kids and adults alike love these frozen treats.

A pile of frozen red grapes sits on a plate. You can see the frosted look of the frozen grapes on the stem.

HOW TO MAKE FROZEN GRAPES

A few years ago a friend introduced me to Grapesicles.  I was surprised how much I liked them! It feels like a treat, sweet and succulent, but it’s just frozen fruit.  This summer I made up a big batch and started feeding the kids I know.  Every kid who had them loved them, a 100% approval rate!  One kid told me it was like an entire Popsicle she could put in her mouth all at once. As far as I’m concerned this is a huge snack win.

I have been buying them for 98 cents a pound this summer. Popsicles cost more for what, sugar water?  Here it is supposed to be over 100F tomorrow!  If you expect a hot 4th also, pop some of these in the freezer.  Your overheated company of all ages will be glad you did!

I wash my grapes carefully and let them dry completely.  Any bad grapes should be picked off.  The rest stay on the stem and go into a Ziplock bag.  Freeze until solid.

To serve take a scissors and cut sections off and hand them out.  I looked around online (a dangerous thing, I know!) and saw that some people shove these on BBQ skewers before they freeze them.  I love food on a stick too but if you are serving them to kids on the young side I think a sharp stick is less than genius.

Warning Label:  Choking hazard for children too young to be trusted with small, hard objects.  There, you have been warned…
