Life will always be unpredictable but YOU can be ready for it!

Setting Up Your Meal Planning Insurance Policy in 3 Simple Steps

I don’t know about you but when something happens that ruins my plans I feel pretty frustrated!  The best thing I can do to save my emotional energy is to have a back up plan or what I like to call my Meal Planning Insurance Policy.

Step #1: Have a Game Plan

My insurance policy for meal planning is a well stocked pantry! It means I always have some back up stuff that I can toss together to salvage dinner before we end up ordering pizza or eating scrambled eggs.  The dinner will be simple but it will be good, reasonably healthy, and not break the budget!

Step #2:  Decide on Supplies

What should you stock in your pantry, spice cupboard, fridge and freezer???  I’m SO glad you asked!  I made you a list just for that!  You may not want to stock all of these items and there may be items specific to your kitchen you should add to your list.  Click here to download and get started>>>>>Pantry Staples Your Meal Planning Insurance Policy

Step #3:  Plan The Money!

We all have budgets for food and nothing should make you break that budget!

In the end having a basic stockpile of every day basic items also helps keep your budget spending even month to month because you don’t run low on all the things you stock in a month.

If you are starting to stock your pantry for the first time pace yourself.  Read the list, decide what you need to add to your stock, and then spread your shopping out over some weeks or months to make sure your budget doesn’t take too hard a hit!

Shame In The Kitchen

A well stocked pantry looks different for different people.  Mine has Pasta Roni, ramen noodles, CHOCOLATE, packets of seasoning mixes and plenty of other things people might feel like judging me for!  So what?

There is no shame in having some prepared foods in your pantry.  As your cooking skills grow and your confidence builds you will find you naturally end up with more items like canned tomatoes or dry beans.  Great – growing as a cook is always awesome!  But on your journey make sure to give yourself plenty of grace and be kind to yourself.  A package of ramen does not make you a bad parent!

Questions???

Got questions?  Chances are somebody else is wondering the same thing!  Go ahead and ask your question in the comment section and I will get you an answer!

What’s Next?!?

Congratulations!  You are one step closer to Meal Planning Success and thus your best cooking life!

Now it is time to Stock. That. Pantry!

Also stay tuned for one more free gift from me to support you on this journey.  I believe in you!
