JarSipStrawLidCollageRoger At-a-Glance:

Product: Mason Jar Sip and Straw Lids
Rating: 10 of 10
Usefulness: Perfect for us straw lovers
Price: Under $10
Where to Buy: Amazon or Fred Meyer. Local Idaho option is D&B Supply

I have always been bad about drinking my water.  I actually resist it for no good reason..  When we moved to Idaho two years ago I started to pay a higher price for that.  We live now in a very dry climate and you have to hydrate or be sick.  I choose the former.  In the past few years I have tried a bunch of different water drinking tricks.  One that has proved more successful for me is drinking very cold water with a straw.  In my case this means I need a lid.  Yes, I know I basically need a sippy cup for grown ups.  Oh well, it is what it is.

I tried plastic cups with lids but found there was a plastic taste after the water has been in the cup awhile.  Besides, if I can taste it what exactly am I drinking anyway?  That is a question I’m not sure science is done answering but until they do I am not super excited about the plastic options.

Recently I came across this new product by Ball and I bought it on impulse.  Don’t do that – it’s not good for you.  However, this was a great buy and I’m loving it!  Drinking out of Mason Jars has always held a bit of romance for me so I’m not surprised that I love them.  My sweet man came home the day I took the photos and saw the jars sitting on the counter.  He thought I had made one for him and drank it all before I showed up and told him he was consuming my photo shoot.  I use the lid sets for my ice water and my smoothies.  When I use it for the smoothies I put a disposable smoothie straw in it so I don’t have to wash the permanent straw that came with it.

One word of caution if you are used to insulated plastic cups:  I fill mine up with ice so it’s COLD.  The cold glass jar gives off a lot of condensation.  I put my jar on a pretty saucer and problem solved.

One package has four sets which is perfect for our household of two.  They come in wide mouth (my choice) or narrow mouth lids.
