How To Make Tartar Sauce

Do you know how to make a great tartar sauce? All you gotta do is dump and stir! Anybody can do that and have something awesome to serve with fish. This recipe is a simple and classic version. (For the low-carb and keto crowd you could thin this sauce out with some lemon juice and toss it on salad!!! Trust me it is absolute heaven!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 3 Tablespoons dill pickle relish or minced dill pickles
  • 3 Tablespoons sweet onion minced
  • 2-3 Tablespoons fern leaf dill fresh or freeze dried
  • black pepper coursely ground to taste
  • fresh lemon juice optional

Instructions

  • Mince onion and dill (if using fresh).
  • Stir all the ingredients together. Taste the sauce. Squeeze in a bit of lemon if you like a bit of the bright acidic flavor.
  • Cover and chill until ready to use.

Notes

This sauce develops flavor after sitting a few minutes.  I like to make it a few minutes before I start dinner and let it sit in the fridge "melding" while I cook.  
Save in the fridge for up to two weeks.
